What If You Take Too Many Tablets ?If ANYBODY accidentally take too many tablets, or if a CHILD takes any tablets contact your nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor IMMEDIATELY.Does Sando-K Have Side Effects ?As well as benefits, all medicines may occasionally have unwanted effects in some patients. These are called side effects.You should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any of the followingAbdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea and vomitingDo not be alarmed by these possible events. Most people take sando-k without any problems.All medicines may have unwanted effects which are not mentioned in the product leaflet. If you notice any other changes in your health whilst taking this medicine, tell your doctor immediately.Expiry DateYou must not receive the medication after the expiry date. This is given in two placesOn the cartonOn the tube.This is given as EXP followed by the month and year. The medication should not be given after the end of that month. If you are not sure when this is, check with your doctor or pharmacist.Storage Of Sando-KYou should not take your tablets out of the tube until you need them and always keep the lid firmly closed. Do not store above 25C. Store your medicine in a safe place, out of reach of children. If your doctor tells you to stop taking these tablets return any tablets remaining in the pack to the pharmacist who will arrange for their destructionREMEMBER These tablets are only for you. Never give your tablets to other people. They may harm other people even if their symptoms appear the same as yours.Why Have You Been Prescribed Sando-K?SANDO-K is one of a group of medicines known as potassium supplements. It can be used to increase your potassium intake for the following reasons-If other medicines have caused the potassium concentration in your blood to decrease.If the concentration of potassium in your blood has decreased as a result of severe diarrhoea, vomiting or fistulas.If the concentration of potassium in your blood has decreased as the result of a metabolic disturbances in your body.If your normal potassium intake is low eg if you have malnutrition, alcoholism or a deficient diet or,If the concentration of potassium in your blood is low as a result of a low chloride concentration in your blood.Before Taking Your MedicineTell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following applyDo you suspect that you have had an allergic reaction to or been upset by any of the ingredients in SANDO-K effervescent tablets (listed in What is in your medicine)?Do you have any kidney problems or have you had any disease which may have affected your kidneys?Has your doctor told you that you have got Addisons disease (a disease affecting your adrenal glands)?Has your doctor told you that you have got high levels of potassium in your blood?Have you recently suffered from any crush injuries?Do you suffer from myotonia congenita (a rare muscle disease) or a haemolytic anaemia e.g. sickle cell disease?Has your doctor told you that you are suffering from acute dehydration?Are you taking any other medicines (either bought or prescribed)?Are you pregnant, or planning to become pregnant? If you do become pregnant whilst takingSANDO-K effervescent tablets, tell your doctor.Are you breast feeding? How Your Medicine Will Be GivenYour doctor will tell you how many SANDO-K effervescent tablets to take and when to take them.He will also tell you how long you should take your medicine for.The usual dose in adults and children is between 2 and 4 tablets per day. You should dissolve thetablets in a 1/3 to a 1/2 of a tumblerful of water. You should then drink the solution immediately.If you prefer, you can take your medicine at meal times.Whilst you are taking SANDO-K effervescent tablets your doctor will probably do some blood tests to check the potassium concentration in your blood. He may also want to occasionally monitor your heart and possibly your blood pressure.If you are unsure about how much medicine to take, when to take it or how long you should take it for, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Do not stop taking your medicine, unless your doctor tells you to, no matter how well you feel. |
